Transfer Between Terminals: A free internal shuttle train runs between the east and west halls of the terminal building from the central concourse basement. Electric vehicles can also transport passengers around the terminal for a fee (tel: 2261 2727).

Driving Directions: From Hong Kong Island, follow road signs to Western Harbour Tunnel. Once out of the tunnel, drive along the West Kowloon Expressway; follow airport road signs and cross the Tsing Ma Bridge to the airport island. Then continue along North Lantau Highway to reach the airport.

Car Hire: Driving is chaotic in Hong Kong and most people choose to hire cars with drivers. Limousine services are available from Intercontinental Hire Car and Parklane Limousine Service, with counters located in the Arrivals hall, and in the Ground Transportation Centre.

Public Transport: Water: The SkyPier (tel: 2307 0880) provides high-speed ferry services between the airport and four points in the Pearl River Delta (DongGuan, Macau, Shekou, and Shenzhen). Tickets are available from booths before immigration. A bus service runs to the airport. Rail: The MTR Corportation Airport Express Line (tel: 2881 8888) operates trains that leave the airport for downtown Hong Kong (journey time: 23 minutes) stopping at Hong Kong and Kowloon stations, where check-in and free porter services are available. The station is located in the Ground Transportation Centre. Road: Taxi: Taxis are readily available from the Ground Transportation Centre next to the passenger terminal. There are separate queues for various services; urban taxis are red and serve almost all destinations in the city, New Territories taxis are green, and Lantau taxis are blue. There is no taxi access to Discovery Bay. Limousine: The airport is served by several limousine companies, with offices located in the Arrivals hall and the Ground Transportation Centre. Bus: Public buses also leave from the Ground Transportation Centre and from near car parks 1 and 2. Buses are operated by Citybus (tel: 2873 0818), Long Win (tel: 2261 2791) and New Lantao (tel: 2984 9848). There are 11 Airbus routes to various parts of Hong Kong, including North Point Ferry Pier, Hung Hom station and Lam Tin station. Frequent external bus services are also available. Night buses take over after 2400. There are also six airport shuttle routes and a 24-hour Discovery Bay Airbus service, operated by DB Transit (tel: 2987 0208). Coach: Cross-border coaches run by five operators offer regular services between the airport and major Guangdong cities in mainland China. A valid travel document for entry to mainland China is required.

Car Parking: There is one undercover multi-storey car park (car park 4) and three open-air ground level car parks (car parks 1, 2, and 5). Car parks 1, 2 and 4 are short-term, whilst car park 5 provides long-term parking spaces. Complimentary 30-minute parking is available in car parks 1, 2 and 4. Car park 2 is the closest to the terminal, for hourly parking only.

Information and Help Desks: The Customer Service Centre can be found in the Departures check in hall, open daily 0530-2300. Multi-media booths are located in the East, West and Arrivals halls, with interactive information and a touch-screen map. There are dozens of 24-hour help phones located throughout the terminal. Information in English is available (tel: 2181 0000).

Airport Facilities: Money and communications: There is a bank, and several bureaux de change counters and ATMs located throughout the terminal. A post office is located in the Departures hall. Wireless Internet is available anywhere airside in the terminal. A Cyber Break Café is located in the northwest concourse and some 170 PowerPhones for Internet access can be found in the terminal and Ground Transportation Centre. Eating and drinking: There are more than 150 food and drink outlets, including an Irish pub in the Arrivals hall. Shopping: Shops including gift and duty-free are available. There is a 24-hour convenience store in the Arrivals hall. A pre-order and pick-up service for duty-free products is available. Luggage: Trolleys are available at all passenger drop-off points. A porter service is available at various points, including outside the Departures hall and the baggage reclaim hall. An excess baggage shipping service is also available at aisle K, before check in (tel: 2769 8681). A left-luggage facility is also available in the Arrivals hall (tel: 2261 0110). Lost and found services are available at the customer service centre, the airport police report centre and via the help phones; there is also a lost and found office on level 6 of the terminal (tel: 2182 2018; e-mail lost-f@hkairport.com). Other facilities: There is a medical centre on level 6 (tel: 2261 2626) and a pharmacy. The Plaza Shower and Relaxation Lounge on level 7 of the west hall is open 24 hours and provides shower rooms, semi-private napping rooms and a mini salon. There is also an Oriental Massage Centre. Children’s play areas are located near gates 22 and 36, while nursery rooms are located at various points throughout the terminal. A non-denominational prayer room is situated in the check-in hall and is open 24 hours.

Conference and Business Facilities: The PCCW Business Centre is located in the Departures check in hall; services include fax facilities and mobile telephone hire. Further conference and business facilities are available from the Plaza Premium Lounge in the west hall (tel: 2261 2622) and east hall (tel: 2261 2668), as well as the Regal Airport Hotel (tel: 2286 8888). There are several airline lounges.
